The Sri Ramalinga Sowdambigai College of Science and Commerce was established in the year 1997 by Sri Ramalinga Sowdambigai Educational Trust, as one of its many folded contributions, has always been committed to providing quality education and holistic development to our students. With high-tech infrastructure, experienced faculty, and a conducive learning environment, we strive to encourage talent and empower individuals to excel in their chosen fields. This is a co-educational institution Affiliated to Bharathiar University. It is recognized by the UGC Act under sections 2f & 12B from 2004 and 2012 Onwards. The Institution has completed 27 years of service to the welfare of the society. The Institution offers 10 Programmes which include 7 Undergraduates, 2 Post Graduate in various disciplines, and a Ph.D. Research Programme in Commerce.
Situated in Onappalayam Village on Vadavalli – Thondamuthur Road and sprawling over 14 acres of land amidst beautiful surroundings at the foot of the Western Ghats, near famous Maruthamalai Hill Temple the college has a magnificent main building in ground, first and second floors covering an area of approximately 20,000 square feet and a big auditorium.
Every department has its own laboratory that is well-equipped. The central laboratory of Information Technology facilitates teaching on various subjects. In this manner all these modern laboratories provide an outstanding facility for learning and developing skills that are required for the students of present day.
Class rooms with good furniture, fully air conditioned Computer Lab with latest Pentium Machines. The library has a huge collection of books, including 1000 volumes, good periodicals, wide-ranging reference books and computer-based information services. One also can get help from its collection of textbooks, college catalogues and previous examination papers. In addition the library subscribes to multitudes of professional journals of international fame.
